Led by Navindra Umanee they wrote a paper to show the advantages of KDE. However UserLinux decided to support only Gnome. After the excitement there were lots of ideas but few working hands. They resurrected the idea renaming it Kalyxo. The mission is Debian integration, developing missing GUI administration tools. There are lots of command line tools for Debian and they are improving these for lazy KDE users. Working with kde.openoffice.org. Working on Fuse-KIO which gives KIOs to any application including command line applications. Qt-GTK-Engine themes GTK. Also FreeNX packaging. They have management policy to ensure that KDE packages are well supported in Debain. There are two branches, the Debian unstable one with packages such as akregator, amarok and an experimental one with Kapture and NX where they are not stable enough for Debian. KDebConf is an integrated front end to DebConf, it is part of official Debian. Needs a facelift and code cleaning which is being worked on. Pakager is a GUI front end to command line tools for Debian package creation. Saves time for experienced packagers as well. Integration with KDevelop is planned. Kapture is a package management system with assorted libraries, libcapture is Debain's frontend building toolkit, libkapture is a set of KDE widgets for libcapture. Planned frontend is a single package installer so you can just download and install a single .deb file. Kapture allows sorting and searching for applications, type KDE and CD and it will find all relevant applications for burning CDs. Kurrent is a simple KDE tool to keep the system up to date, it is build on libkapture. Future goals are KaST, Kalyso System Tools. Should reduce work while not getting in the way of the administrator. Desktop independent, Gnome or curses frontends would be possible. Will work with Debconf and Kastconf which uses .ui files and resembles configlets. They are looking for more sponsors for their packages because they are not registered Debian Developers (although they are hoping to become so).
